The Scoop

The Newkirk House is located just a few blocks from Brooklyn College, and is an easy walk from plenty of local restaurants and shops. This house features three newly renovated floors, with plenty of common space for members to work, entertain or just chill.

The house is a newly renovated space inside and out, with split-unit heating and air conditioning, updated appliances and hardwood floors. This is a three-story, two-unit home, and each unit comes equipped with a full kitchen and living room, as well as access to a large downstairs common area.

There are two full bathrooms and one half bathroom in each five-bedroom unit, so you’ll never have to wait. The space is designed to feel open and airy, with light colors and large windows to let in plenty of sun. Additionally, two of the bedrooms have access to a large private terrace, a perfect spot for morning coffee or an evening cup of tea.

Location

This coliving space is conveniently located just a 10-minute walk from Brooklyn College, on the neighborhood’s main thoroughfare. It’s an 8-minute walk from the Newkirk Ave. stop on the 2 and 5 trains, and a 15-minute walk from the Newkirk Plaza stop on the B and Q trains.

You can be in downtown Brooklyn in less than half an hour, and in lower Manhattan in just a few minutes more.

The Bedrooms

There are eight private rooms and two shared rooms at the Newkirk House. Bedding is available for an additional fee.

  • Amenities: memory-foam mattresses (twin-sized for shared rooms; full-sized for single rooms), pillows, extension cords to your bedside, shelving, hooks and closet/organization tools.

The kitchens/dining room

There is one kitchen in each unit within the house, with cabinets and fridge space assigned to each member. This open space is used for dinners, solo meals and chats in the evening over a glass of wine.

  • Amenities include gas stoves, stainless-steel fridges, microwaves, large sinks, coffee makers, plenty of cabinets, cookware, tableware, cutting boards and anything else you would need in a kitchen.
  • Security: 24/7 security in all common areas.

The (co)living room

Each unit in the Newkirk House has its own living area, and there’s also a communal living room located downstairs, which members in both units have access to. The living room has comfortable couches and a 55-inch TV (with Netflix!); perfect for your next movie night. The space is equipped with everything you need to relax.

  • Living room also includes: Additional seating, pillows and lamps
  • Security: 24/7 security in common areas.
  • Tech: Google Chromecast.

The bathrooms

We provide many bathroom essentials, as well. There are two full bathrooms and one half bathroom in each unit within the house. Our mirrors are even heated, so you’ll never have to wait for it to defog!

  • Also included: toilet paper, hand soap and small garbage bags!

The Laundry room

The Newkirk House also has laundry facilities where members can do their laundry in the comfort of their own home.

  • Security: 24/7 security in all common areas, as well as lockers.
