The Scoop

Union Square, named for its strategic location at the intersection of Broadway and Fourth Avenue, continues to uphold its legacy as a popular meeting place. Its grounds have been the stage for history-making meetings and official celebrations, and it's renowned as a hub of diverse recreational, entertainment, and cultural events, offering a rich tapestry of experiences.

Union Square is both centrally located and local-centric, holding a wide range of community events, from outdoor yoga to weekly farmer’s markets. A center of commerce for over 170 years, you can shop big-name retailers as well as small, family-owned boutiques. Business people, activists, and students alike call this dynamic neighborhood home and contribute to its cosmopolitan atmosphere.

While coveted for being a few minutes' walking distance to the East Village, West Village, Gramercy, NoHo, and Chelsea, the Union Square House is a desirable locale in its own right. Resting just off Fifth Avenue and a short walk from the Flatiron building, this elegant mansion has ornate details that retain the property’s historic charm with updated appliances and stylish furnishings.

Location

The Union Square House is within close walking distance to Manhattan’s hottest neighborhoods, including the East Village, West Village, Gramercy, and Flatiron. It’s extremely commuter-friendly, especially for those who are new in town. A 4-minute walk from 14 St-Union Square subway station offers access to the whole city, with connections to the L, N, Q, R, W, 4, 5, and 6 trains. The F, L, M, 1, 2, 3, and PATH trains are also close by at 14 St/Sixth Avenue station (but now we’re just showing off).

This house is a 15-minute walk from Baruch College and NYU’s main building, and its close proximity to many of the school’s other buildings makes it a perfect choice for NYU students looking for student housing. It's also less than a five-minute walk to the New School and the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, so you can sleep in as much as possible before your classes. It’s also a popular location for professionals working in the high-rise offices of the Flatiron district and neighboring areas.

Stayed at the Williamsburg, Brooklyn NY house for 2 months this summer. Great experience - this house has killer amenities [rooftop, free laundry, movie theater and downstairs work area that no one ever uses and is great for remote work].

Bedroom

As if incredibly high ceilings trimmed with crown molding weren’t exquisite enough on their own merit, this apartment also features a skylight, allowing even more natural light to flood the spacious apartment than the floor-to-ceiling window alone. The charming built-in shelves provide extra storage space for your most treasured possessions and ample closet space throughout the apartment. Contemporary finishes from the floor lamp and overhead fixture to the additional pocket lights ensure you will always have good lighting.

The Living Room

A cozy, modern sofa with room to spare beckons you to enjoy the living area, where a large flat-screen TV is ready to play all your favorite movies and media. But the real star of the show? The grand fireplace facade, a remnant of the building’s past, heightens an already sophisticated space. A stylish rug in earth-tone colors used throughout the apartment ties the space together while creating a distinct area from the rest of the apartment that’s dedicated to leisure.

The Kitchen

Stainless steel appliances, a subway tile backsplash, and marbled quartz countertops create a modern kitchen you’ll be proud to cook in when you don’t otherwise opt for one of the top-tier restaurants in Flatiron or the Village (have we mentioned its stellar location?). The attention to design details is evident in every corner of the space, down to the kitchen table and chairs whose matching materials serve to create flow throughout the apartment while also creating the illusion of being an entirely distinct space from the rest of the unit.

  • Amenities: Electric stoves, stainless steel fridges, microwaves, coffee machines, cookware, utensils, cutting boards–in short, everything you’ll need for cooking (and eating)!
  • Also included: Paper towels, dish soap, hand soap, all-purpose cleaner, sponges, and garbage/recycling bags

The Neighborhood

The Union Square House's location offers a wealth of activity and excitement. Union Square extends from 14th Street to the south, 17th Street to the north, Union Square West, and (you guessed it) Union Square East. There is never a dull moment at Union Square Park, a center of entertainment and recreation.

Visit the Greenmarket, a year-round farmer's market open four days a week, and treat yourself to pastries, artisanal cheeses, farm-fresh produce, flowers, and so many more delights. The Union Square Holiday Market, which runs through November and December, is the city's oldest and longest-running holiday market and offers all kinds of quality food, decor, jewelry, and gifts.

Shopping doesn't have to end there–Fifth Avenue, arguably one of the most famous shopping destinations in the world, offers a wide selection of luxury and specialty stores including high-end fashion, electronics, and home decor. Strand Bookstore, the biggest bookstore in NY, sells new and pre-loved books ranging from bestsellers to rare editions, along with other bookish merchandise.

Many museums, such as the Rubin Museum of Art and Fotografiska Museum NYC, are nearby. Fabulous Italian, Mexican, and Middle Eastern restaurants and health-conscious American eateries are within walking distance. While the rest of the city is easily accessible to you at the Union Square House, there is no denying the abundance of attractions right outside your door.
