We have a million things to say about Ange Noir Cafe — all of them good, all of them with gooey eyes. Looking for a place to chill out? Perfect. Need to sit down and get some work done? You’ve got it. Ange Noir is the "room of requirement" of Brooklyn cafes (and the best part is that not everybody knows about it yet).
Located a short walk from the Morgan Ave. stop on the L train, Ange Noir is both spacious and intimate, with a relaxed yet welcoming vibe. Choose from a selection of red puffed-up cushioned chairs in the open-plan main room filled with dark wood and exposed brick, or head into the back room for privacy and a quiet place to work. The staff are always friendly and ready to serve up a selection of coffee, pastries or food, depending on your fancy.
Ange Noir is owned by a French couple who really know their food, meaning the menu is surprisingly extensive for a small cafe, including homemade sandwiches, bagels, salads and even crepes. There's also a nice selection of flavored and iced coffees as well as on-the-go snacks. With daily opening times from 7:30 a.m.–7 p.m., it’s the perfect place to drop in for breakfast, lunch, dinner or some combination of them all.

Ange Noir is particularly popular for meet-up groups, including Bushwick Writers Group and several boardgamers, who compete for table space on Sunday afternoons. If you’re new to the city, it’s a wonderful place to meet people, as these groups are perpetually welcoming to newcomers. It’s people like this who give Ange Noir its signature friendly, creative atmosphere, while at the same time, you’ll find others happily working or drinking coffee on their own if you're not feeling sociable.

The back room converts into a live music venue by night, transforming this cafe into a low-key bar. Simply walk through the red phone booth to find a stage ready to welcome Brooklyn’s best indie talent, Hellphone, the perfect place to spend a relaxed Friday or Saturday night. Show times are announced on their Facebook Page, so be sure to check in regularly for updates and recommendations.
With such a variety of happenings and the possibility of all-day crepes, it’s easy to see why we love this hidden away Bushwick cafe.
